This screen will allow you to set up FTP accounts for FTP access to the server. See the FTP Access chapter for details on our FTP service. Each FTP Account has the following properties:
Username - must be unique for the entire server. That's why sometimes the system will refuse to create an FTP account with a given username - probably another customer already has set up an FTP account with that username. You should avoid common FTP usernames like "admin", "ftp", "webmaster", etc
Password - Unique password for the FTP account
Home Folder - The folder the FTP client will enter after sucessful login. The FTP user is restricted to this folder and it's subfolders. For example if you create a user with /home/youraccount/public_html/subdomain as their home folder then this user will not be able to access your log files in /home/youraccount/logs because that folder is higher in the directory tree than the home folder of the user.
The FTP Accounts screen will present a list of the currently available FTP accounts in your hosting package. There is always at least one FTP account and its username matches the UNIX username that is associated with your hosting package. This account is created automatically when your package is initialized after you sign up with us and the system will not let you delete this account.
There are two things you can do with existing FTP accounts: erase them or change their passwords. Simply click the respective icon in the "Manage" column of the FTP accounts list.
To create a new FTP account enter the new username, the new password (twice) and select the home folder for the new account from the drop-down box (leave the box empty to use the default home folder: /home/youraccount which means that the new FTP user will have access to all files and folders in the package).
